Caffè Bindu is a café concept created for a Nepali–Italian fusion restaurant in Providence, Rhode Island. Because the location was part of the brief, I placed it near RISD and developed the café around the idea of creating a gathering place for students and other creatives. The name comes from the bindu, the central point of a mandala, which became a way to think about the café as a center for creativity while each person within it represents their own point within that creative community.
The identity builds on that idea through a system of dots, color, and typography. The color palette draws from Nepali prayer flags, while the dot motif was influenced by graphic work I found during my research, including posters for the Italian typewriter company Olivetti. I carried the system across the identity, signage, menus, packaging, cups, posters, and storefront to create a café that feels energetic, social, and connected to the creative community around it.
